What is a Power of Attorney?

A ’’ Power of Attorney” is a legal instrument authorizing an entity, or a person to act as the attorney or agent of the grantor.

Ocean Freight Solutions requires all its clients to provide a valid power of attorney so that we may transact U.S. Customs Business as required by law or regulation on our client’s behalf.

Power of Attorney facts:

U.S. Customs business as referred to includes but is not limited to: make, endorse, sign, declare or swear to any request for immediate delivery, entry, withdrawal, declaration, certificate, bill of lading, protest, affidavit or document required for drawback or clearance of merchandise into the U.S. or other action performed on behalf of the principal as required by law or regulation.

Power of Attorney may be granted by both resident and non-resident individuals, partnerships, corporations and sole proprietorships.

When Ocean Freight Solutions can help?

When you file a Power of Attorney form with the appropriate signatures and notarization to legally assign Power of Attorney to Ocean Freight Solutions;

General Power of Attorney form with attached Terms and Conditions of Service would be provided to you before we provide services.

The original signed and sealed (if require) Power of Attorney and Terms and Conditions of Service must be mailed to:

First time Importers / New Customers :

Please review the following documentation list for accuracy:

1. Signed Power of Attorney

2. Signed CF 5106

3. Signed Terms and Conditions of Service

5. Packing List

6. Shipping Documents (Bill of Lading for vessel shipments / Air Bill for air shipments)

7. Arrival Notice (from the forwarder or steamship line)

8. Copy of Photo ID (Driver License, Passport )
